I’ve wanted to live in NY as long as I could remember! With both of my parents being from NY and all of my family still living here it just seemed as if this is where I should be!
However after living in NY for almost 7 years now ( I can’t believe I’ve lasted this long) I am more then grateful I was not born here and was able to experience the childhood my parents missed out on.
Although I find Maryland extremely boring I am happy I was not born in the city! Everything about Maryland is different from NY! I grew up with trees and grass everywhere, without sidewalks and driving everywhere. I was able to roam freely around my neighborhood and ride my bike. I rode the big yellow cheese ( public school bus) to and from school. But in NY none of that is possible! It’s a great place to live while I am young and living my life and trying to start my career! But I know for facts that I would never raise kids on this city!
For starters besides how beautiful NY is, I find it very dirty! So I feel my health is at risk! But my top concern is that kids grow up too fast here and everything is so expensive. I’ve been dying to play tennis and to play on a court in NYC you need a permit! YES! You have to fill out an application, pay a monthly, one time, or weekly fee to use the courts! In Maryland u can go to any high school and use the courts as you please! Along with the track, football and soccer fields and the gym! You can use these facilities all day and come and go as you please! But in NY a tennis permit only allows you 1 hour on the court.
It got me to thinking, this could be a possible reason for why crime is so high in this city. And why so many young kids find them selfs in the streets and in trouble.
I’ll be home in Maryland for the 4th of July, so I plan on playing a lot of free tennis while I am there!
